About Me

My name is Sarah and I live in an east side suburb of Cleveland, Ohio.  I like to cook, bake and eat.  I cook out of necessity, and have fun doing it, but baking is my hobby. I came up with the name Cooker Girl because that’s what Kevin (my husband) calls me when I’m in the kitchen or looking at new recipes online.  Funny coincidence I found out about later: Kevin's grandpa used to call his mom Cooker Girl whenever she made something he really liked.

I grew up in a rural town in Western New York next to Lake Ontario.  When I was younger I liked to cook and bake.  Being part of a family who had a homemade dinner every night and being a member of 4-H really gave me my exposure in the kitchen.  After showing some interest, I received my first cookbook for a Christmas gift when I was 9 years old.  The first in my collection was none other than the classic red and white plaid Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book.

I started this blog to keep track of what I've made.  When it comes to most recipes, I don't usually make a lot of repeats, but at least now I'll have a record of the ones we really liked in case we want to go back to them.  This space will also give me a chance to publish family recipes so they don't get lost over time.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the recipes I share!
